तेनासौ चतुरो वेदांश्चतुर्भिर्वदनैर्विभुः । सव्याहृतिकान् सोङ्कारांश्चातुर्होत्रविवक्षया ।। १२-६-४४ ।।

All-powerful Brahmā made use of this collection of sounds to produce from his four faces the four Vedas, which appeared together with the sacred oṁkāra and the seven vyāhṛti invocations. His intention was to propagate the process of Vedic sacrifice according to the different functions performed by the priests of each of the four Vedas. ।। 12-6-44 ।।

english translation

सर्वशक्तिमान ब्रह्मा ने ध्वनियों के इस संग्रह का उपयोग अपने चार चेहरों से चार वेदों को उत्पन्न करने के लिए किया, जो पवित्र ओंकार और सात व्याहृति आह्वान के साथ प्रकट हुए। उनका इरादा चारों वेदों में से प्रत्येक के पुजारियों द्वारा किए गए विभिन्न कार्यों के अनुसार वैदिक बलिदान की प्रक्रिया का प्रचार करना था। ।। १२-६-४४ ।।
