सप्तर्षीणां तु यौ पूर्वौ दृश्येते उदितौ दिवि । तयोस्तु मध्ये नक्षत्रं दृश्यते यत्समं निशि ।। १२-२-२७ ।।

sanskrit

Of the seven stars forming the constellation of the seven sages, Pulaha and Kratu are the first to rise in the night sky. If a line running north and south were drawn through their midpoint, whichever of the lunar mansions this line passes through is said to be the ruling asterism of the constellation for that time. ।। 12-2-27 ।।

english translation

सात ऋषियों के तारामंडल को बनाने वाले सात सितारों में से, पुलहा और क्रतु रात के आकाश में सबसे पहले उगते हैं। यदि उत्तर और दक्षिण की ओर जाने वाली एक रेखा उनके मध्य बिंदु से खींची जाती है, तो यह रेखा जिस भी चंद्र भवन से होकर गुजरती है, उसे उस समय के नक्षत्र का शासक तारामंडल कहा जाता है। ।। १२-२-२७ ।।
