पुराणसङ्ख्यासम्भूतिमस्य वाच्यप्रयोजने । दानं दानस्य माहात्म्यं पाठादेश्च निबोधत ।। १२-१३-३ ।।

Now please hear a summation of the verse length of each of the Purāṇas. Then hear of the prime subject and purpose of this Bhāgavata Purāṇa, the proper method of giving it as a gift, the glories of such gift-giving, and finally the glories of hearing and chanting this literature. ।। 12-13-3 ।।

english translation

अब कृपया प्रत्येक पुराण की श्लोक लंबाई का सारांश सुनें। फिर इस भागवत पुराण के मुख्य विषय और उद्देश्य, इसे उपहार के रूप में देने की उचित विधि, ऐसे उपहार देने की महिमा और अंत में इस साहित्य को सुनने और जप करने की महिमा के बारे में सुनें। ।। १२-१३-३ ।।
