सम्पद्यमानमाज्ञाय भीष्मं ब्रह्मणि निष्कले । सर्वे बभूवुस्ते तूष्णीं वयांसीव दिनात्यये ।। १-९-४४ ।।

sanskrit

Knowing that Bhīṣmadeva had merged into the unlimited eternity of the Supreme Absolute, all present there became silent like birds at the end of the day. ।। 1-9-44 ।।

english translation

यह जानकर कि भीष्मदेव अनन्त परम पूर्ण में लीन हो गये, वहाँ पर उपस्थित सारे लोग उसी तरह मौन हो गये, जिस प्रकार दिन समाप्त होने पर पक्षी मौन हो जाते हैं। ।। १-९-४४ ।।

sampadyamAnamAjJAya bhISmaM brahmaNi niSkale | sarve babhUvuste tUSNIM vayAMsIva dinAtyaye || 1-9-44 ||
