यया सम्मोहितो जीव आत्मानं त्रिगुणात्मकम् । परोऽपिमनुतेऽनर्थं तत्कृतंचाभिपद्यते ।। १-७-५ ।।

Due to this external energy, the living entity, although transcendental to the three modes of material nature, thinks of himself as a material product and thus undergoes the reactions of material miseries. ।। 1-7-5 ।।

english translation

जीवात्मा तीनों गुणों से अतीत होते हुए भी इस बहिरंगा शक्ति के कारण अपने आप को भौतिक पदार्थ की उपज मानता है और इस प्रकार भौतिक कष्टों के फलों को भोगता है। ।। १-७-५ ।।
