तत्रर्ग्वेदधरः पैलः सामगो जैमिनिः कविः । वैशम्पायन एवैको निष्णातो यजुषामुत ॥ १-४-२१ ॥
After the Vedas were divided into four divisions, Paila Ṛṣi became the professor of the Ṛg Veda, Jaimini the professor of the Sāma Veda, and Vaiśampāyana alone became glorified by the Yajur Veda. ॥ 1-4-21 ॥

वेदों के चार खण्डों में विभाजित हो जाने के बाद, पैल ऋषि ऋग्वेद के आचार्य बने और जैमिनि साम वेद के। यजुर्वेद के कारण एकमात्र वैशम्पायन यशस्वी हुए। ॥ १-४-२१ ॥
