ऋषिभिर्याचितो भेजे नवमं पार्थिवं वपुः । दुग्धेमामोषधीर्विप्रास्तेनायं स उशत्तमः ॥ १-३-१४ ॥
O brāhmaṇas, in the ninth incarnation, the Lord, prayed for by sages, accepted the body of a king [Pṛthu] who cultivated the land to yield various produce, and for that reason the earth was beautiful and attractive. ॥ 1-3-14 ॥
english translation
हे ब्राहणों, मुनियों द्वारा प्रार्थना किये जाने पर, भगवान् ने नवें अवतार में राजा (पृथु) का शरीर स्वीकार किया जिन्होंने विविध उपजें प्राप्त करने के लिए पृथ्वी को जोता। फलस्वरूप पृथ्वी अत्यन्त सुन्दर तथा आकर्षक बन गई। ॥ १-३-१४ ॥
