अष्टमेमेरुदेव्यां तुनाभेर्जातउरुक्रमः । दर्शयन्वर्त्मधीराणां सर्वाश्रमनमस्कृतम् ॥ १-३-१३ ॥
The eighth incarnation was King Ṛṣabha, son of King Nābhi and his wife Merudevī. In this incarnation the Lord showed the path of perfection, which is followed by those who have fully controlled their senses and who are honored by all orders of life. ॥ 1-3-13 ॥
english translation
आठवाँ अवतार राजा ऋषभ के रूप में हुआ। वे राजा नाभि तथा उनकी पत्नी मेरुदेवी के पुत्र थे। इस अवतार में भगवान् ने पूर्णता का मार्ग दिखलाया जिसका अनुगमन उन लोगों द्वारा किया जाता है, जिन्होंने अपनी इन्द्रियों को पूर्ण रूप से संयमित कर लिया है और जो सभी वर्णाश्रमों के लोगों द्वारा वन्दनीय हैं। ॥ १-३-१३ ॥
