एष राज्ञां परो धर्मो ह्यार्तानामार्तिनिग्रहः । अत एनं वधिष्यामि भूतद्रुहमसत्तमम् ॥ १-१७-११ ॥
It is certainly the prime duty of the king to subdue first the sufferings of those who suffer. Therefore I must kill this most wretched man because he is violent against other living beings. ॥ 1-17-11 ॥
english translation
यह राजा का प्रधान कर्तव्य है कि जो पीडि़त हों, सर्वप्रथम उनके कष्टों का शमन किया जाय। अतएव मैं इस अत्यन्त दुष्ट व्यक्ति को अवश्य मारूँगा, क्योंकि यह अन्य जीवों के प्रति हिंसक है। ॥ १-१७-११ ॥
