त्वंनः सन्दर्शितोधात्रादुस्तरं निस्तितीर्षताम् । कलिंसत्त्वहरंपुंसां कर्णधारइवार्णवम् ॥ १-१-२२ ॥

We think that we have met Your Goodness by the will of providence, just so that we may accept you as captain of the ship for those who desire to cross the difficult ocean of Kali, which deteriorates all the good qualities of a human being. ॥ 1-1-22 ॥

english translation

हम मानते हैं कि दैवी इच्छा ने हमें आपसे मिलाया है, जिससे मनुष्यों के सत्त्व का नाश करने वाले उस कलि रूप दुर्लंघ्य सागर को तरने की इच्छा रखने वाले हम सब आपको नौका के कप्तान के रूप में ग्रहण कर सकें। ॥ १-१-२२ ॥
