ज्ञेयं पित्र्यमहोरात्रं मासः कृष्णसितात्मकः ॥ ६ ॥
The month consisting of black and white is to be understood as the day and night of the fathers.

jJeyaM pitryamahorAtraM mAsaH kRSNasitAtmakaH ॥ 6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमासैस्तैरयनं षड्भिर्वर्षं द्वे चायनं मतम् ॥ लौकिकेनैव मानेन अब्दो यो मानुषः स्मृतः ॥ ७ ॥
Six months are considered to be the ayana, and two years are considered to be the ayana. The year which is considered to be a human being by the same worldly standards.

mAsaistairayanaM SaDbhirvarSaM dve cAyanaM matam ॥ laukikenaiva mAnena abdo yo mAnuSaH smRtaH ॥ 7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतद्दिव्यमहोरात्रमिति शास्त्रस्य निश्चयः ॥ दक्षिणं चायनं रात्रिस्तथोदगयनं दिनम् ॥ ८ ॥
This is the divine day and night, as the scriptures determine. The southern moon is the night and the east moon is the day.

etaddivyamahorAtramiti zAstrasya nizcayaH ॥ dakSiNaM cAyanaM rAtristathodagayanaM dinam ॥ 8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमासस्त्रिंशदहोरात्रैर्दिव्यो मानुषवत्स्मृतः ॥ संवत्सरो ऽपि देवानां मासैर्द्वादशभिस्तथा ॥ ९ ॥
The divine month like the human month constitutes thirty days. The year of the gods constitutes twelve months.

mAsastriMzadahorAtrairdivyo mAnuSavatsmRtaH ॥ saMvatsaro 'pi devAnAM mAsairdvAdazabhistathA ॥ 9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptत्रीणि वर्षशतान्येव षष्टिवर्षयुतान्यपि ॥ दिव्यस्संवत्सरो ज्ञेयो मानुषेण प्रकीर्तितः ॥ १० ॥
They lived for three hundred years and sixty thousand years. The divine year is to be understood as described by human beings.
