अथ प्रयोगं योगस्य वक्ष्ये शृणु समाहितः ॥ शुभे काले शुभे देशे शिवक्षेत्रादिके पुनः ॥ विजने जंतुरहिते निःशब्दे बाधवर्जिते ॥ ४६ ॥

Now I shall describe the practice of yoga. Please listen carefully. Again, at an auspicious time, in an auspicious place, in a place like Lord Śiva’s field. It was deserted, free from animals, silent and free from obstacles.

atha prayogaM yogasya vakSye zRNu samAhitaH ॥ zubhe kAle zubhe deze zivakSetrAdike punaH ॥ vijane jaMturahite niHzabde bAdhavarjite ॥ 46 ॥

सुप्रलिप्ते स्थले सौम्ये गन्धधूपादिवासिते ॥ मुक्तपुष्पसमाकीर्णे वितानादि विचित्रिते ॥ ४७ ॥

The ground should be well-smeared and gentle and fragrant with fragrant incense and other substances. The city was covered with loose flowers and decorated with canopies and other ornaments.

कुशपुष्पसमित्तोयफलमूलसमन्विते ॥ नाग्न्यभ्याशे जलाभ्याशे शुष्कपर्णचये ऽपि वा ॥ ४८ ॥

It is covered with kuśa grass, flowers, oil, water, fruits and roots. Neither in the presence of fire, nor in the presence of water, nor in the presence of dry leaves.

kuzapuSpasamittoyaphalamUlasamanvite ॥ nAgnyabhyAze jalAbhyAze zuSkaparNacaye 'pi vA ॥ 48 ॥

न दंशमशकाकीर्णे सर्पश्वापदसंकुले ॥ न च दुष्टमृगाकीर्णे न भये दुर्जनावृते ॥ ४९ ॥

It was not crowded with mosquitoes, snakes, dogs and foxes. It was not crowded with evil animals or surrounded by evil people in fear.

श्मशाने चैत्यवल्मीके जीर्णागारे चतुष्पथे ॥ नदीनदसमुद्राणां तीरे रथ्यांतरे ऽपि वा ॥ ५० ॥

In the cemetery, in the anthill, in the dilapidated house, on the four paths. On the banks of rivers, streams, seas or on the banks of roads.

zmazAne caityavalmIke jIrNAgAre catuSpathe ॥ nadInadasamudrANAM tIre rathyAMtare 'pi vA ॥ 50 ॥
