Shiva Purana
ततो मूलेन मूर्धादिपीठांतं संस्पृशेदपि ॥ पूजां च महतीं कुर्याद्देवमावाह्य पूर्ववत् ॥ ६९ ॥
Beginning from the head and ending with the pedestal, the Liṅga shall be touched repeating the basic mantra. The great worship shall be performed after invoking the lord as before.
english translation
tato mUlena mUrdhAdipIThAMtaM saMspRzedapi ॥ pUjAM ca mahatIM kuryAddevamAvAhya pUrvavat ॥ 69 ॥
