भावहीनो नरस्सर्वं कृत्वापि न विमुच्यते ॥ भावयुक्तः पुनस्सर्वमकृत्वापि विमुच्यते ॥ ५६ ॥
A person devoid of piety and devotion is not liberated even after doing everything but one with devotion is liberated even without doing anything.
english translation
bhAvahIno narassarvaM kRtvApi na vimucyate ॥ bhAvayuktaH punassarvamakRtvApi vimucyate ॥ 56 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचांद्रायणसहस्रैश्च प्राजापत्यशतैस्तथा ॥ मासोपवासैश्चान्यैश्च शिवभक्तस्य किं पुनः ॥ ५७ ॥
To a devotee of Śiva, of what avail are thousands of Cāndrāyaṇas, hundreds of Prājāpatyas, and other monthly fasts.
english translation
cAMdrAyaNasahasraizca prAjApatyazataistathA ॥ mAsopavAsaizcAnyaizca zivabhaktasya kiM punaH ॥ 57 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअभक्ता मानवाश्चास्मिंल्लोके गिरिगुहासु च ॥ तपंति चाल्पभोगार्थं भक्तो भावेन मुच्यते ॥ ५८ ॥
In this world, even non-devotees perform penances in mountain caves for the enjoyment of insignificant pleasures. But only a devotee is liberated through pious feelings.
english translation
abhaktA mAnavAzcAsmiMlloke giriguhAsu ca ॥ tapaMti cAlpabhogArthaM bhakto bhAvena mucyate ॥ 58 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसात्त्विकं मुक्तिदं कर्म सत्त्वे वै योगिनः स्थिताः ॥ राजसं सिद्धिदं कुर्युः कर्मिणो रजसावृताः ॥ ५९ ॥
The Sāttvic activity yields salvation. Yogins abide by the Sattvaguṇa. The ritualists perform Rājasic rites bestowing Siddhis because they are enveloped by Rajas Guṇa.

sAttvikaM muktidaM karma sattve vai yoginaH sthitAH ॥ rAjasaM siddhidaM kuryuH karmiNo rajasAvRtAH ॥ 59 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअसुरा राक्षसाश्चैव तमोगुणसमन्विताः ॥ ऐहिकार्थं यजन्तीशं नराश्चान्ये ऽपि तादृशाः ॥ ६० ॥
Asuras and Rākṣasas possessing Tamas Guṇa and men of that ilk worship the lord for securing worldly pleasures.

asurA rAkSasAzcaiva tamoguNasamanvitAH ॥ aihikArthaM yajantIzaM narAzcAnye 'pi tAdRzAH ॥ 60 ॥
