भक्त्या प्रचोदितः कुर्यादल्पवित्तोपि मानवः ॥ महाविभवसारोपि न कुर्याद्भक्तिवर्जितः ॥ ५१ ॥
Even a poor man urged by devotion, may do what a rich man devoid of devotion will not do.
english translation
सर्वस्वमपि यो दद्याच्छिवे भक्तिविवर्जितः ॥ न तेन फलभाक्स स्याद्भक्तिरेवात्र कारणम् ॥ ५२ ॥
If a man devoid of devotion were to dedicate his entire possession to Śiva he will not derive the benefit thereof. Devotion is the sole criterion.
english translation
न तत्तपोभिरत्युग्रैर्न च सर्वैर्महामखैः ॥ गच्छेच्छिवपुरं दिव्यं मुक्त्वा भक्तिं शिवात्मकम् ॥ ५३ ॥
Without this none can go to the divine city of Śiva through any sort of penances.
english translation
गुह्याद्गुह्यतरं कृष्ण सर्वत्र परमेश्वरे ॥ शिवे भक्तिर्न संदेहस्तया भक्तो विमुच्यते ॥ ५४ ॥
O Kṛṣṇa, this is the secret of secrets in regard to the lord. There is no doubt that a devotee becomes liberated through devotion.
english translation
शिवमंत्रजपो ध्यानं होमो यज्ञस्तपःश्रुतम् ॥ दानमध्ययनं सर्वे भावार्थं नात्र संशयः ॥ ५५ ॥
The Japa of Śiva’s Mantra meditation, Horn a, Yajña, penance, learning, charitable gift, study of Vedas—all these are conducive to piety. There is no doubt about this.
