Shiva Purana
बहिर्यागोपचारेण देवं देवीं च पूजयेत् ॥ अथवा पूजयेन्नित्यं लिंगे वा कृतकेपि वा ॥ ६० ॥
One should worship the Lord and Goddess Durgā by performing external sacrifices. Or else one should worship the deity daily in the form of a deity or in the form of a deity.

bahiryAgopacAreNa devaM devIM ca pUjayet ॥ athavA pUjayennityaM liMge vA kRtakepi vA ॥ 60 ॥
