Shiva Purana
उपमन्युरुवाच ॥ अथैवं संस्कृतं शिष्यं कृतपाशुपतव्रतम् ॥ आचार्यत्वे ऽभिषिंचेत तद्योगत्वेन चान्यथा ॥ १ ॥
Upamanyu said:— The preceptor shall crown consecrated disciple as a preceptor after he has performed íhe Pāśupata rite if he has the requisite qualities and not otherwise.

upamanyuruvAca ॥ athaivaM saMskRtaM ziSyaM kRtapAzupatavratam ॥ AcAryatve 'bhiSiMceta tadyogatvena cAnyathA ॥ 1 ॥
