Shiva Purana
तत्रादौ संप्रवक्ष्यामि मन्त्रसंग्रहणं शुभम् ॥ यं विना निष्फलं जाप्यं येन वा सफलं भवेत् ॥ ६० ॥
There at the outset, I shall explain the procedure of practising the mantra without which the Japa is futile and with which it is fruitful.
english translation
tatrAdau saMpravakSyAmi mantrasaMgrahaNaM zubham ॥ yaM vinA niSphalaM jApyaM yena vA saphalaM bhavet ॥ 60 ॥
