न मूर्तिश्च स्वतंत्रस्य घटते मूलहेतुना ॥ मूर्तेरपि च कार्यत्वात्तत्सिद्धिः स्यादहैतुकी ॥ ६ ॥

But a physical form docs not fit in with a free being for this basic reason. But the form is an effect of some cause. Lordship has no cause for its being.

na mUrtizca svataMtrasya ghaTate mUlahetunA ॥ mUrterapi ca kAryatvAttatsiddhiH syAdahaitukI ॥ 6 ॥

सर्वत्र परमो भावो ऽपरमश्चान्य उच्यते ॥ परमापरमौ भावौ कथमेकत्र संगतौ ॥ ७ ॥

Everywhere the greater and the lower Bhāvas are mentioned. How can these two be relevant in one place?

english translation

sarvatra paramo bhAvo 'paramazcAnya ucyate ॥ paramAparamau bhAvau kathamekatra saMgatau ॥ 7 ॥

निष्फलो हि स्वभावो ऽस्य परमः परमात्मनः ॥ स एव सकलः कस्मात्स्वभावो ह्यविपर्ययः ॥ ८ ॥

Indeed the great Ātman is devoid of attributes. How can he become possessed of attributes. Svabhāva is unrevertible.

niSphalo hi svabhAvo 'sya paramaH paramAtmanaH ॥ sa eva sakalaH kasmAtsvabhAvo hyaviparyayaH ॥ 8 ॥

स्वभावो विपरीतश्चेत्स्वतंत्रः स्वेच्छया यदि ॥ न करोति किमीशानो नित्यानित्यविपर्ययम् ॥ ९ ॥

If you say that his innate nature is reverted by his own wish he being free, why does not Īśāna make an interchange in permanent and non-permanent things?

english translation

svabhAvo viparItazcetsvataMtraH svecchayA yadi ॥ na karoti kimIzAno nityAnityaviparyayam ॥ 9 ॥

मूर्तात्मा सकलः कश्चित्स चान्यो निष्फलः शिवः ॥ शिवेनाधिष्ठितश्चेति सर्वत्र लघु कथ्यते ॥ १० ॥

The wise have said that the embodied Ātman is Sakala; the unembodied Śiva is Niṣkala. The embodied Ātman is presided over by Śiva.
