तस्मात्कर्मफलत्यागाच्छिवधर्मान्वयः शुभः ॥ स च गुर्वनपेक्षश्च तदपेक्ष इति द्विधा ॥ ३६ ॥

As a result of the abandonment of the desire for the fruits of holy rites, the auspicious Śaivite virtues are attained. This is twofold: that dependent on the preceptor and that which is not.

tasmAtkarmaphalatyAgAcchivadharmAnvayaH zubhaH ॥ sa ca gurvanapekSazca tadapekSa iti dvidhA ॥ 36 ॥

तत्रानपेक्षात्सापेक्षो मुख्यः शतगुणाधिकः ॥ शिवधर्मान्वयस्यास्य शिवज्ञानसमन्वयः ॥ ३७ ॥

That which is dependent on the preceptor is more important and hundred times more efficacious since in the Śaivite creed there is an association of Śaivite knowledge.

tatrAnapekSAtsApekSo mukhyaH zataguNAdhikaH ॥ zivadharmAnvayasyAsya zivajJAnasamanvayaH ॥ 37 ॥

ज्ञनान्वयवशात्पुंसः संसारे दोषदर्शनम् ॥ ततो विषयवैराग्यं वैराग्याद्भावसाधनम् ॥ ३८ ॥

In view of the knowledge the man sees the defects in the worldly existence (saṃsāra). Thereafter arises non-attachment to the sensual objects and thence Bhāva is attained.

jJanAnvayavazAtpuMsaH saMsAre doSadarzanam ॥ tato viSayavairAgyaM vairAgyAdbhAvasAdhanam ॥ 38 ॥

भावसिद्ध्युपपन्नस्य ध्याने निष्ठा न कर्मणि ॥ ज्ञानध्यानाभियुक्तस्य पुंसो योगः प्रवर्तते ॥ ३९ ॥

When Bhāva is attained the man becomes more inclined towards meditation than towards rituals. A man endowed with knowledge and meditation becomes engaged in Yoga.

bhAvasiddhyupapannasya dhyAne niSThA na karmaNi ॥ jJAnadhyAnAbhiyuktasya puMso yogaH pravartate ॥ 39 ॥

योगेन तु परा भक्तिः प्रसादस्तदनंतरम् ॥ प्रसादान्मुच्यते जंतुर्मुक्तः शिवसमो भवेत् ॥ ४० ॥

Through Yoga arises the great, devotion and then grace of God. By means of the grace the creature is liberated and becomes equal to Śiva.

yogena tu parA bhaktiH prasAdastadanaMtaram ॥ prasAdAnmucyate jaMturmuktaH zivasamo bhavet ॥ 40 ॥
