महांतस्ते सुरगणान्मंडूकानिवडुंडुभाः ॥ प्राणैर्वियोजयामासुः पपुश्च रुधिरासवम् ॥ ५१ ॥

The great arrows took away the lives of the gods even as the water snakes squeeze the lives out of the frogs. They drank their blood as though that were wine.

english translation

निकृत्तबाहवः केचित्केचिल्लूनवराननाः ॥ पार्श्वे विदारिताः केचिन्निपेतुरमरा भुवि ॥ ५२ ॥

The hands of some had been cut off. The faces of some had been split. Some gods fell on the ground with their sides lacerated and bruised.

nikRttabAhavaH kecitkecillUnavarAnanAH ॥ pArzve vidAritAH kecinnipeturamarA bhuvi ॥ 52 ॥

विशिखोन्मथितैर्गात्रैर्बहुभिश्छिन्नसन्धिभिः ॥ विवृत्तनयनाः केचिन्निपेतुर्भूतले मृताः ॥ गां प्रवेष्टुमिवेच्छंतः खं गंतुमिव लिप्सवः ॥ ५३ ॥

Many of his limbs were shattered by arrows and his joints were severed. Some of them fell to the ground dead with their eyes turned away. They wanted to enter the earth as if they wanted to go to the sky.

अलब्धात्मनिरोधानां व्यलीयंतः परस्परम् ॥ भूमौ केचित्प्रविविशुः पर्वतानां गुहाः परे ॥ ५४ ॥

Unable to restrain themselves, they merged into each other. Some entered the ground while others entered the caves of the mountains.

अपरे जग्मुराकाशं परे च विविशुर्जलम् ॥ तथा संछिन्नसर्वांगैस्स वीरस्त्रिदशैर्बभौ ॥ ५५ ॥

Some of them went to the sky, while others entered the water. Thus the heroic demon shone with all his limbs cut off.
