तदा देवश्च देवी च दिव्यासनगतावुभौ ॥ दर्शनं ददतुस्तेषां देवादीनां द्विजोत्तमाः ॥ ६ ॥
O Brahmins, the lord and the goddess were seated on a divine scat as they granted interview to the gods and others.
english translation
tadA devazca devI ca divyAsanagatAvubhau ॥ darzanaM dadatusteSAM devAdInAM dvijottamAH ॥ 6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतदानीमेव दक्षो ऽपि गतस्तत्र सहामरैः ॥ जामातरं हरं द्रष्टुं द्रष्टुं चात्मसुतां सतीम् ॥ ७ ॥
At the same time Dakṣa too had accompanied the gods in order to see Śiva his son-in-law and the goddess his own daughter.
english translation
tadAnImeva dakSo 'pi gatastatra sahAmaraiH ॥ jAmAtaraM haraM draSTuM draSTuM cAtmasutAM satIm ॥ 7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतदात्मगौरवाद्देवो देव्या दक्षे समागते ॥ देवादिभ्यो विशेषेण न कदाचिदभूत्स्मृतिः ॥ ८ ॥
In view of their dignity, the lord and the Goddess did not give any special preferential treatment to Dakṣa.
english translation
tadAtmagauravAddevo devyA dakSe samAgate ॥ devAdibhyo vizeSeNa na kadAcidabhUtsmRtiH ॥ 8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य तस्याः परं भावमज्ञातुश्चापि केवलम् ॥ पुत्रीत्येवं विमूढस्य तस्यां वैरमजायत ॥ ९ ॥
But deluded that he was, Dakṣa did not realise the greatness of the lord and the goddess. Thinking her to be his daughter he began to nurse a grudge and hatred against her.
english translation
tasya tasyAH paraM bhAvamajJAtuzcApi kevalam ॥ putrItyevaM vimUDhasya tasyAM vairamajAyata ॥ 9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस्तेनैव वैरेण विधिना च प्रचोदितः ॥ नाजुवाह भवं दक्षो दीक्षितस्तामपि द्विषन् ॥ १० ॥
Due to this enmity and further incited by Brahmā, Dakṣa after initiation did not invite them in the sacrifice.

tatastenaiva vaireNa vidhinA ca pracoditaH ॥ nAjuvAha bhavaM dakSo dIkSitastAmapi dviSan ॥ 10 ॥
