निकृत्यादय उत्पन्नाःपुत्राश्च धर्मलक्षणाः ॥ नैषां भार्याश्च पुत्रा वा सर्वे त्वनियमाः स्मृताः ॥ १६ ॥

They gave birth to sons like Nikritya who were characterized by religious principles Neither their wives nor their sons are considered to be subject to the prescribed rituals.

nikRtyAdaya utpannAHputrAzca dharmalakSaNAH ॥ naiSAM bhAryAzca putrA vA sarve tvaniyamAH smRtAH ॥ 16 ॥

स एष तामसस्सर्गो जज्ञे धर्मनियामकः ॥ या सा दक्षस्य दुहिता रुद्रस्य दयिता सती ॥ १७ ॥

That is the creation of the mode of ignorance which regulates religious principles She was the chaste daughter of Dakṣa and the beloved of Lord Śiva.

sa eSa tAmasassargo jajJe dharmaniyAmakaH ॥ yA sA dakSasya duhitA rudrasya dayitA satI ॥ 17 ॥

भर्तृनिन्दाप्रसंगेन त्यक्त्वा दाक्षायिणीं तनुम् ॥ दक्षं च दक्षभार्यां च विनिंद्य सह बन्धुभिः ॥ १८ ॥

Because of her husband’s blasphemy, she gave up her body as the wife of Dakṣa. He and his relatives blasphemed Dakṣa and his wife.

bhartRnindAprasaMgena tyaktvA dAkSAyiNIM tanum ॥ dakSaM ca dakSabhAryAM ca viniMdya saha bandhubhiH ॥ 18 ॥

सा मेनायामाविरभूत्पुत्री हिमवतो गिरेः ॥ रुद्रस्तु तां सतीं दृष्ट्वा रुद्रांस्त्वात्मसमप्रभान् ॥ १९ ॥

That daughter of the Himālaya Mountains appeared in the womb of Mena. Lord Śiva, seeing the chaste lady, saw the other Rudras as effulgent as himself.

यथासृजदसंख्यातांस्तथा कथितमेव च ॥ भृगोः ख्यात्यां समुत्पन्ना लक्ष्मीर्नारायणप्रिया ॥ २० ॥

I have also described to you how the Supreme Personality of Godhead created innumerable living entities. Lakṣmī, the beloved of Lord Nārāyaṇa, was born of the famous wife of Bhṛgu.
