ऋषय ऊचुः ॥ भवता कथिता सृष्टिर्भवस्य परमात्मनः ॥ चतुर्मुखमुखात्तस्य संशयो नः प्रजायते ॥ १ ॥

The sages said:— Sir, you have narrated the creation of the great Ātman through the mouth of the four-faced lord. There we have a doubt.

english translation

RSaya UcuH ॥ bhavatA kathitA sRSTirbhavasya paramAtmanaH ॥ caturmukhamukhAttasya saMzayo naH prajAyate ॥ 1 ॥

देवश्रेष्ठो विरूपाक्षो दीप्तश्शूलधरो हरः ॥ कालात्मा भगवान् रुद्रः कपर्दी नीललोहितः ॥ २ ॥

Lord Śiva is the best of the gods with disfigured eyes and glowing trident in his hand Lord Rudra is the soul of time and is blue and red in color.

english translation

devazreSTho virUpAkSo dIptazzUladharo haraH ॥ kAlAtmA bhagavAn rudraH kapardI nIlalohitaH ॥ 2 ॥

सब्रह्मकमिमं लोकं सविष्णुमपि पावकम् ॥ संहरति संक्रुद्धो युगांते समुपस्थिते ॥ ३ ॥

This world with Brahmā is also the fire with Lord Viṣṇu. He withdraws in anger when the end of the age approaches.

sabrahmakamimaM lokaM saviSNumapi pAvakam ॥ saMharati saMkruddho yugAMte samupasthite ॥ 3 ॥

यस्य ब्रह्मा च विष्णुश्च प्रणामं कुरुतो भयात् ॥ लोकसंकोचकस्यास्य यस्य तौ वशवर्तिनौ ॥ ४ ॥

Lord Brahmā and Lord Viṣṇu bow down to Him out of fear. They are under the control of this man who shrinks the world.

english translation

yasya brahmA ca viSNuzca praNAmaM kuruto bhayAt ॥ lokasaMkocakasyAsya yasya tau vazavartinau ॥ 4 ॥

यो ऽयं देवः स्वकादंगाद्ब्रह्मविष्णू पुरासृजत् ॥ स एव हि तयोर्नित्यं योगक्षेमकरः प्रभुः ॥ ५ ॥

In the past, Lord Brahmā and Lord Viṣṇu created the Supreme Personality of Godhead from His own body. He alone is the Lord who always protects the two by practicing yoga.

yo 'yaM devaH svakAdaMgAdbrahmaviSNU purAsRjat ॥ sa eva hi tayornityaM yogakSemakaraH prabhuH ॥ 5 ॥
