विशेषतः कलौ व्यास पुराणश्रवणादृते ॥ परो धर्मो न पुंसां हि मुक्तिध्यानपरः स्मृतः ॥ ३१॥
O Vyāsa, especially in the age of Kali there is no greater virtue aimed at salvation and meditation than listening to the Purāṇas.
english translation
vizeSataH kalau vyAsa purANazravaNAdRte ॥ paro dharmo na puMsAM hi muktidhyAnaparaH smRtaH ॥ 31॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुराणश्रवणं शम्भोर्नामसंकीर्तनं तथा ॥ कल्पद्रुमफलं रम्यं मनुष्याणां न संशयः ॥ ३२ ॥
There is no doubt that the listening to Śiva-Purāṇa and the holy recital of his names yield fruits readily like the Kalpa tree to human beings.
english translation
purANazravaNaM zambhornAmasaMkIrtanaM tathA ॥ kalpadrumaphalaM ramyaM manuSyANAM na saMzayaH ॥ 32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकलौ दुर्मेधसां पुंसां धर्माचारोझ्झितात्मनाम् ॥ हिताय विदधे शम्भुः पुराणाख्यं सुधारसम् ॥ ३३॥
Śiva has created the nectarine juice in the form of Purāṇa for the benefit of men of poor intellect in the Kali age who have eschewed virtue and good conduct.
english translation
kalau durmedhasAM puMsAM dharmAcArojhjhitAtmanAm ॥ hitAya vidadhe zambhuH purANAkhyaM sudhArasam ॥ 33॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएकोऽजरामरस्याद्वै पिबन्नेवामृतं पुमान् ॥ शम्भोः कथामृतापानात्कुलमेवाजरामरम् ॥ ३४॥
Only one person becomes free from old age and death by drinking the nectar Amṛta. But by drinking the nectarine story of Śiva the entire family becomes free from death and old age.
english translation
eko'jarAmarasyAdvai pibannevAmRtaM pumAn ॥ zambhoH kathAmRtApAnAtkulamevAjarAmaram ॥ 34॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptया गतिः पुण्यशीलानां यज्वनां च तपस्विनाम् ॥ सा गतिस्सहसा तात पुराणश्रवणात्खलु ॥ ३५॥
O dear, one instantaneously attains by listening to the Purāṇas that salvation which meritorious ascetics and performers of sacrifices derive.
english translation
yA gatiH puNyazIlAnAM yajvanAM ca tapasvinAm ॥ sA gatissahasA tAta purANazravaNAtkhalu ॥ 35॥
