कथां पौराणिकीं श्रोतुं यद्यशक्तस्सदा भवेत् ॥ नियतात्मा प्रतिदिनं शृणुयाद्वा मुहूर्तकम् ॥ २६॥
If any one is unable to listen to the Purāṇic story let him listen at least for a Muhūrta every day with pure mind.
english translation
यदि प्रतिदिनं श्रोतुमशक्तो मानवो भवेत् ॥ पुण्यमासादिषु मुने शृणुयाच्छांकरीं कथाम् ॥ २७॥
O sage, if any man, is unable to listen to the story of Śiva every day let him listen to it in the course of holy months, days etc.
english translation
शैवीं कथां हि शृण्वानः पुरुषो हि मुनीश्वर ॥ स निस्तरति संसारं दग्ध्वा कर्ममहाटवीम् ॥ २८॥
O great sage, he who regularly listens to Śiva’s story crosses the ocean of worldly existence after burning away the great forest of Karman.
english translation
कथां शैवीं मुहूर्तं वा तदर्द्धं क्षणं च वा ॥ ये शृण्वxति नरा भक्त्या न तेषां दुर्गतिर्भवेत् ॥ २९॥
No mishap befalls those men who listen to Śiva’s story even for a Muhūrta, or half that time or even for a moment with devotion.
english translation
यत्पुण्यं सर्वदानेषु सर्वयज्ञेषु वा मुने ॥ शंभोः पुराणश्रवणात्तत्फलं निश्चलं भवेत् ॥ ३०॥
O sage, certainly the fruit derived from listening to Śivapurāṇa is the same as that derived from making all charitable gifts or from performing all sacrifices.
