महिष्यो रुरुदुस्सर्वा इतिकर्त्तव्यताक्षमाः ॥ मूर्च्छामाप महाराज्ञी कन्यामाता शुचाकुला ॥ २१ ॥
The queens, knowing not what shall be done, lamented. The chief queen, the mother of the girl, fell unconscious in the excess of her grief.
english translation
mahiSyo rurudussarvA itikarttavyatAkSamAH ॥ mUrcchAmApa mahArAjJI kanyAmAtA zucAkulA ॥ 21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptबभूवुस्तनयास्सर्वे शोकाकुलि तमानसाः ॥ सर्वं शोकाकुलं जातं नृपसम्बन्धि शैलप ॥ २२ ॥
The brothers of the girl were agitated with sorrow. O lord of mountains, everything and every one connected with the king was overwhelmed with grief.
english translation
babhUvustanayAssarve zokAkuli tamAnasAH ॥ sarvaM zokAkulaM jAtaM nRpasambandhi zailapa ॥ 22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतस्मिन्नन्तरे प्राज्ञो द्विजो गुरुरनुत्तमः ॥ पुरोहितश्च मतिमानागतो नृपसन्निधिम् ॥२३॥
In the meantime the wise brahmin, the excellent preceptor of the king, as well as his intelligent priest came there.
english translation
etasminnantare prAjJo dvijo gururanuttamaH ॥ purohitazca matimAnAgato nRpasannidhim ॥23॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराजा प्रणम्य सम्पूज्य रुरोद च तयोः पुरः ॥ सर्वं निवेदयांचक्रे पप्रच्छोचितमाशु तत् ॥२४॥
The king bowed to them and paid homage. He cried before them. He explained to them everything and asked them what was the proper step to be taken immediately.

rAjA praNamya sampUjya ruroda ca tayoH puraH ॥ sarvaM nivedayAMcakre papracchocitamAzu tat ॥24॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ राज्ञो गुरुर्विप्रः पण्डितश्च पुरोहितः ॥ अपि द्वौ शास्त्रनीतिज्ञौ बोधयामासतुर्नृपम् ॥ २५ ॥
Then, the king’s guru — a learned Brahmin and the royal priest (purohita), Both of whom were well-versed in scriptures and ethics — began to instruct the king.

atha rAjJo gururvipraH paNDitazca purohitaH ॥ api dvau zAstranItijJau bodhayAmAsaturnRpam ॥ 25 ॥
