अस्या दर्शनमात्रेण महानंदो भवत्यलम् ॥ यदालिंगनमेनस्याः कुर्य्यां किन्तु ततस्सुखम् ॥ ४१ ॥
I feel great pleasure on merely seeing her. What pleasure shall I derive by embracing her?
english translation
क्षणमात्रं विचार्य्येत्थं संपूज्य गिरिजां ततः ॥ प्रबुद्धस्य महायोगी सुविरक्तो जगाविति ॥ ४२ ॥
Thinking thus only for a moment, the enlightened Śiva became detached, honoured Pārvatī and spoke.
english translation
किं जातं चरितं चित्रं किमहं मोहमागतः ॥ कामेन विकृतश्चाद्य भूत्वापि प्रभुरीश्वरः ॥ ४३ ॥
How wonderful and mysterious is the situation that has arisen! How is it that I have been deluded and fascinated? Though I am the lord and master, I have been perturbed by Kāma.
english translation
ईश्वरोहं यदीच्छेयं परांगस्पर्शनं खलु॥ तर्हि कोऽन्योऽक्षमः क्षुद्रः किं किं नैव करिष्यति ॥४४॥
If I, the master, were to yearn for the touch of a woman’s limbs what will not be done by other incompetent and insignificant creatures.
english translation
एवं वैराग्यमासाद्य पर्य्यंकासादनं च तत्॥ वारयामास सर्वात्मा परेशः किं पतेदिह ॥४५॥
Thus resuming detachment, lord Śiva forbade her sitting on the couch. How can there be a downfall for the great lord Śiva?
