मुने शंभोः प्रभावात्तु मायेशस्य महाप्रभोः ॥ न चचाल हरेश्चक्रं करस्थं स्तंभितं ध्रुवम् ॥ ३६ ॥
O sage, thanks to the power of Śiva, the great lord controlling Māyā, the Cakra held in the hand of Viṣṇu became stunned and motionless.
english translation
mune zaMbhoH prabhAvAttu mAyezasya mahAprabhoH ॥ na cacAla harezcakraM karasthaM staMbhitaM dhruvam ॥ 36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ विष्णुर्गणेशेन वीरभद्रेण भाषता ॥ अतिष्ठत्स्तंभितस्तेन शृंगवानिव निश्चलः ॥ ३७ ॥
Viṣṇu who was kept stunned by Vīrabhadra of eloquent words who was the lord of the Gaṇas, remained motionless like a mountain.
english translation
atha viSNurgaNezena vIrabhadreNa bhASatA ॥ atiSThatstaMbhitastena zRMgavAniva nizcalaH ॥ 37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततो विष्णुः स्तंभितो हि वीरभद्रेण नारद ॥ यज्वोपमंत्रणमना नीरस्तंभनकारकम् ॥३८॥
O Nārada, when he became benumbed and stunned, Viṣṇu repeated formulas for redemption from torpidity.
english translation
tato viSNuH staMbhito hi vIrabhadreNa nArada ॥ yajvopamaMtraNamanA nIrastaMbhanakArakam ॥38॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस्स्तंभननिर्मुक्तः शार्ङ्गधन्वा रमेश्वरः ॥ शार्ङ्गं जग्राह स क्रुद्धः स्वधनुस्सशरं मुने ॥ ३९ ॥
O sage, becoming freed from the stunned state, Viṣṇu became infuriated and took up his bow and arrows.
english translation
tatasstaMbhananirmuktaH zArGgadhanvA ramezvaraH ॥ zArGgaM jagrAha sa kruddhaH svadhanussazaraM mune ॥ 39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptत्रिभिश्च धर्षितो बाणैस्तेन शार्ङ्गं धनुर्हरेः ॥ वीरभद्रेण तत्तात त्रिधाभूत्तत्क्षणान्मुने ॥ 2-2-37-४० ॥
O dear sage, Viṣṇu’s bow was attacked with three arrows by Vīrabhadra whereupon it split into three in a trice.
