तेन शब्देन महता श्लाघ्मानास्तदा सुराः ।। लोकपालैश्च सहिता जघ्नुस्ताञ्छिवकिंकरान् ।। ११ ।।

sanskrit

Being encouraged by that sound, the devas in the company of the guardians of the quarters hit and thrashed the attendants of Śiva.

english translation

tena zabdena mahatA zlAghmAnAstadA surAH || lokapAlaizca sahitA jaghnustAJchivakiMkarAn || 11 ||

sanskrit

O excellent sage, on account of the incantations of Bhṛgu,the attendants of Śiva were routed by Indra and other guardians of the quarters.

english translation

उच्चाटनं कृतं तेषां भृगुणा यज्वना तदा ।। यजनार्थं च देवानां तुष्ट्यर्थं दीक्षितस्य च ।। १३ ।।

sanskrit

Their defeat was effected by Bhṛgu the sacrificial priest, for the continuance of the worship of the deities and for the satisfaction of Dakṣa who had been initiated in the sacrifice.

uccATanaM kRtaM teSAM bhRguNA yajvanA tadA || yajanArthaM ca devAnAM tuSTyarthaM dIkSitasya ca || 13 ||

पराजितान्स्वकान्दृष्ट्वा वीरभद्रो रुषान्वितः ।। भूतप्रेतपिशाचांश्च कृत्वा तानेव पृष्ठतः ।। १४ ।।

On seeing his people defeated, Vīrabhadra became infuriated. He asked the goblins, ghosts and spirits to keep back.

वृषभस्थान् पुरस्कृत्य स्वयं चैव महाबलः ।। महात्रिशूलमादाय पातयामास निर्जरान् ।।१५।।

The attendants riding on bulls were sent to the front ranks. Accompanied by his forces and wielding his great trident he felled the devas.

english translation

vRSabhasthAn puraskRtya svayaM caiva mahAbalaH || mahAtrizUlamAdAya pAtayAmAsa nirjarAn ||15||
