तेन नादेन महता नादितं भुवनत्रयम् ॥ रजसा चावृतं व्योम तमसा चावृता दिशः ॥१६॥
By that great sound, the three worlds echoed and the quarters were plunged in darkness.

सप्तद्वीपान्विता पृथ्वी चचालाति भयाकुला ॥ सशैलकानना तत्र चुक्षुभुस्सकलाब्धयः ॥१७॥
The whole earth containing the seven continents shook with fear. All the oceans, forests and mountains were excessively agitated.

एवंभूतं च तत्सैन्यं लोकक्षयकरं महत् ॥ दृष्ट्वा च विस्मितास्सर्वे बभूवुरमरादयः ॥ १८ ॥
On seeing that vast army of destructive potentiality, devas and others were quite surprised.

सैन्योद्योगमथालोक्य दक्षश्चासृङ्मुखाकुलः ॥ दंडवत्पतितो विष्णुं सकलत्रोऽभ्यभाषत॥ १९॥
On seeing the enterprising activity of the army, Dakṣa’s face turned red with agitation. He fell at the feet of Viṣṇu straight like a staff, prostrated at his feet, along with his wife and said thus.

॥ दक्ष उवाच ॥ भवद्बलेनैव मया यज्ञः प्रारंभितो महान् ॥ सत्कर्मसिद्धये विष्णो प्रमाणं त्वं महाप्रभो ॥2-2-35-२० ॥
Dakṣa said: Depending upon you, this great sacrifice was started by me. O Viṣṇu, great lord, you are the final authority in the matter of realising good rites.
