अमंगलस्तु ते भर्ता शिवोसौ गम्यते बुधैः ॥ अकुलीको वेदबाह्यो भूतप्रेतपिशाचराट् ॥३१॥
Your husband Śiva is known to the wise as inauspicious. He is not of a noble lineage. He is the king of goblins, ghosts and spirits. He is excluded from Vedic rites.
english translation
amaMgalastu te bhartA zivosau gamyate budhaiH ॥ akulIko vedabAhyo bhUtapretapizAcarAT ॥31॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्मान्नाह्वारितो रुद्रो यज्ञार्थं सुकुवेषभृत् ॥ देवर्षिसंसदि मया ज्ञात्वा पुत्रि विपश्चिता ॥३२॥
Knowing Śiva to be of indecent dress and features, my dear daughter I did not invite him to the sacrifice in the presence of gods and sages.
english translation
tasmAnnAhvArito rudro yajJArthaM sukuveSabhRt ॥ devarSisaMsadi mayA jJAtvA putri vipazcitA ॥32॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविधिना प्रेरितेन त्वं दत्ता मंदेन पापिना॥ रुद्रायाविदितार्थाय चोद्धताय दुरात्मने ॥३३॥
Induced by Brahmā I gave you in marriage to the wicked haughty Śiva who does not know customs. I have been a sinner and slow-witted.
english translation
vidhinA preritena tvaM dattA maMdena pApinA॥ rudrAyAviditArthAya coddhatAya durAtmane ॥33॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्मात्कोपं परित्यज्य स्वस्था भव शुचिस्मिते ॥ यद्यागतासि यज्ञेस्मिन् दायं गृह्णीष्व चात्मना॥३४॥
Hence leave off your anger. Calm yourself. (Let us see) you smile sweetly. Having come (all the way) to this sacrifice you can take your own share.
english translation
tasmAtkopaM parityajya svasthA bhava zucismite ॥ yadyAgatAsi yajJesmin dAyaM gRhNISva cAtmanA॥34॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्रह्मोवाच॥ दक्षेणोक्तेति सा पुत्री सती त्रैलोक्यपू जिता ॥ निंदायुक्तं स्वपितरं दृष्ट्वासीद्रुषिता भृशम् ॥ ३५ ॥
Brahmā said: The daughter Satī honoured in the three worlds, on being addressed thus, became very angry to see her father full of contempt.
