दधीच उवाच ॥ ॥ सर्वे शृणुत मद्वाक्यं देवर्षिप्रमुखा मुदा ॥ कस्मान्नैवागतश्शंभुरस्मिन् यज्ञे महोत्सवे ॥२६॥
Dadhīci said: O ye all! celestial sages and others, pay heed to my words. Why has not Śiva taken part in the festivities of this sacrifice?
english translation
एते सुरेशा मुनयो महत्तरास्सलोकपालाश्च समागता हि ॥ तथापि यज्ञस्तु न शोभते भृशं पिनाकिना तेन महात्मना विना ॥२७॥
Of course, the chiefs of devas, the great sages and the guardians of the quarters have all come. Yet the sacrifice cannot be perfect and complete without the noble-souled, trident-holder Śiva.
english translation
येनैव सर्वाण्यपि मंगलानि भवंति शंसन्ति महाविपश्चितः ॥ सोऽसौ न दृष्टोऽत्र पुमान् पुराणो वृषध्वजो नीलगलः परेशः ॥ २८ ॥
The bull-bannered, blue-necked eternal Puruṣa the great Īśa is not seen here. Great scholars have affirmed, that all auspicious results happen due to Him alone.
english translation
अमंगलान्येव च मंगलानि भवंति येनाधिगतानि दक्षः ॥ त्रिपंचकेनाप्यथ मंगलानि भवंति सद्यः परतः पुराणि ॥२९॥
O Dakṣa, if accepted by Triyambaka all inauspicious things become auspicious and fresh auspicious things take shape which will be greater than the greatest in a trice.
english translation
तस्मात्त्वयैव कर्तव्यमाह्वानं परमेशितुः ॥ त्वरितं ब्रह्मणा वापि विष्णुना प्रभुविष्णुना॥2-2-27-३०॥
Hence the invitation to the great Śiva shall be extended by you yourself immediately or by Brahmā or by Viṣṇu the lord.
