वामाङ्गजो हरिस्तस्य दक्षिणांगभवो ह्यहम् ॥ शिवस्य हृदयाज्जातस्त्वं हि पूर्णतनुश्शिवः ॥ १६ ॥
Viṣṇu is born of his left limb. I am born of the right limb. You are born of the heart of Śiva and are his full-fledged incarnation.
english translation
इत्थं वयं त्रिधा भूताः प्रभाभिन्नस्वरूपिणः ॥ शिवाशिवसुतास्तत्त्वं हृदा विद्धि सनातन ॥ १७ ॥
Thus, O lord, we have become three, with different forms. We are the sons of Śivā and Śiva which, O eternal one, you must note.
english translation
अहं विष्णुश्च सस्त्रीकौ संजातौ कार्यहेतुतः ॥ लोककार्यकरौ प्रीत्या तव शासनतः प्रभो ॥ १८ ॥
Viṣṇu and I have become united with our wives for the performance of our function. O lord, with great pleasure we carry on our activities in the world at your bidding.

तस्माद्विश्वहितार्थाय सुराणां सुखहेतवे ॥ परिगृह्णीष्व भार्यार्थे रामामेकां सुशोभनाम् ॥ १९ ॥
Hence, for the benefit of the universe, for the happiness of the devas, you must accept an auspicious lady as your wife.
english translation
अन्यच्छृणु महेशान पूर्ववृत्तं स्मृतं मया ॥ यन्नौ पुरःपुरा प्रोक्तं त्वयैव शिवरूपिणा ॥ 2-2-16-२० ॥
O great lord, please listen to another incident of bygone days, just recollected by me. You yourself as Śiva mentioned this to us formerly.
