यां यां दिशं समभ्येति सोयं दुस्सह दानवः ॥ अवध्योऽहं भवामीति स्त्रीपुंसैः कामनिर्जितैः ॥ ४१ ॥
Whichever quarter he approaches, the Dānava is unbearably oppressive. “I am not to be killed by men or women overwhelmed by lust” he shouts.
english translation
इत्येवं चेष्टितं तस्य दानवस्य निवेदितम् ॥ रक्षस्व भक्तान्देवेश काशीरक्षणतत्पर ॥ ४२ ॥
O lord of the gods, we have thus mentioned humbly the activities of that Dānava. Please protect your devotees, O lord, desirous of protecting Kāśī.
english translation
सनत्कुमार उवाच ॥ इति संप्रार्थितो देवैर्भक्तरक्षणतत्परः ॥ तत्राऽऽजगाम सोरं तद्वधकामनया हरः ॥ ४३ ॥
Sanatkumāra said: Thus requested by the goss, Śiva desirous of protecting the devotees came there quickly with the desire of slaying him.
english translation
आगतं तं समालोक्य शंकरं भक्तवत्सलम् ॥ त्रिशूलहस्तं गर्जंतं जगर्ज स गजासुरः ॥ ४४ ॥
On seeing that Śiva, favourably disposed to his devotees, had come roaring with the trident in his hand, Gajāsura too roared.

ततस्तयोर्महानासीत्समरो दारुणोऽद्भुतः ॥ नानास्त्रशस्त्रसंपातैर्वीरारावं प्रकुर्वतोः ॥ ४५ ॥
A wonderfully terrible and great battle was fought between them roaring heroically and hitting with various weapons and missiles.
