यूयं प्रमाणं धर्मेषु यथा न च तथा वयम् ॥ अस्ति चेद्धर्मलेशोस्य गणास्तं शृणुमो वयम्॥३१॥
It is granted that you are an authority on virtue. We are not. But O Gaṇas, if this fellow has at least a bit of virtue to his credit, please let us hear the same.
english translation
yUyaM pramANaM dharmeSu yathA na ca tathA vayam ॥ asti ceddharmalezosya gaNAstaM zRNumo vayam॥31॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइत्थं तद्वाक्यमाकर्ण्य यामानां शिवकिंकराः ॥ स्मृत्वा शिवपदाम्भोजं प्रोचुः पारिषदास्तु तान् ॥ ३२ ॥
On hearing these words of Yama’s attendants, the attendants of Śiva remembered the lotus-like feet of Śiva and spoke to them thus.
english translation
itthaM tadvAkyamAkarNya yAmAnAM zivakiMkarAH ॥ smRtvA zivapadAmbhojaM procuH pAriSadAstu tAn ॥ 32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशिवकिंकरा ऊचुः ॥ ॥ किंकराश्शिवधर्मा ये सूक्ष्मास्ते तु भवादृशैः ॥ स्थूललक्ष्यैः कथं लक्ष्या लक्ष्या ये सूक्ष्मदृष्टिभिः ॥ ३३ ॥
Śiva’s attendants said: “O Attendants of Yama, Śiva’s ideas of Dharma are very subtle. They can be observed only by persons of subtle and keen vision, not by people like you whose aim is only the gross exterior.

zivakiMkarA UcuH ॥ ॥ kiMkarAzzivadharmA ye sUkSmAste tu bhavAdRzaiH ॥ sthUlalakSyaiH kathaM lakSyA lakSyA ye sUkSmadRSTibhiH ॥ 33 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअनेनानेनसा कर्म यत्कृतं शृणुतेह तत् ॥ यज्ञदत्तात्मजेनाथ सावधानतया गणाः ॥ ३४ ॥
O Gaṇas, hear attentively what this son of Yajñadatta has done which has freed him from sins.
english translation
anenAnenasA karma yatkRtaM zRNuteha tat ॥ yajJadattAtmajenAtha sAvadhAnatayA gaNAH ॥ 34 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपतंती लिंगशिरसि दीपच्छाया निवारिता ॥ स्वचैलांचलतोऽनेन दत्त्वा दीपदशां निशि ॥ ३९ ॥
The shadow of the lamp was falling on the top of the liṅga and this brahmin prevented it by adding a wick to the lamp at night, cutting a piece from his lower cloth.

pataMtI liMgazirasi dIpacchAyA nivAritA ॥ svacailAMcalato'nena dattvA dIpadazAM nizi ॥ 39 ॥
