स पूर्णनयनो दैत्यः शक्तिनिर्भिन्नदेहकः ॥ पपात भूमौ त्वरितमुदतिष्ठन्महाबलः ॥ ३६ ॥
With the body pierced through by the spear, the Daitya fell on the ground with eyes rolling. But the powerful Asura swiftly stood up.
english translation
sa pUrNanayano daityaH zaktinirbhinnadehakaH ॥ papAta bhUmau tvaritamudatiSThanmahAbalaH ॥ 36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः क्रोधपरीतात्मा कार्तिकेयं जलंधरः ॥ गदया ताडयामास हृदये दैत्यपुंगवः ॥३७॥
Then Jalandhara the infuriated leader of the Daityas hit Kārttikeya in his chest with his mace.
english translation
tataH krodhaparItAtmA kArtikeyaM jalaMdharaH ॥ gadayA tADayAmAsa hRdaye daityapuMgavaH ॥37॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगदाप्रभावं सफलं दर्शयन्शंकरात्मजः ॥ विधिदत्तवराद्व्यास स तूर्णं भूतलेऽपतत् ॥ ३८ ॥
O Vyāsa, plainly exhibiting the successful efficiency of the Mace secured as a favour from Brahmā Kārttikeya fell on the ground suddenly.
english translation
gadAprabhAvaM saphalaM darzayanzaMkarAtmajaH ॥ vidhidattavarAdvyAsa sa tUrNaM bhUtale'patat ॥ 38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतथैव नंदी ह्यपतद्भूतले गदया हतः ॥ महावीरोऽपि रिपुहा किंचिद्व्याकुलमानसः ॥ ३९ ॥
Similarly, struck by the mace Nandin too fell on the ground, He was distressed a little although he was a great hero and a destroyer of enemies.
english translation
tathaiva naMdI hyapatadbhUtale gadayA hataH ॥ mahAvIro'pi ripuhA kiMcidvyAkulamAnasaH ॥ 39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततो गणेश्वरः क्रुद्धस्स्मृत्वा शिवपदाम्बुजम् ॥ संप्राप्यातिबलो दैत्य गदां परशुनाच्छिनत् ॥2-5-21-४०॥
Then the infuriated hero Gaṇeśa came there after remembering the lotus like feet of Śiva and split the mace of the Daitya with his axe.
english translation
tato gaNezvaraH kruddhassmRtvA zivapadAmbujam ॥ saMprApyAtibalo daitya gadAM parazunAcchinat ॥2-5-21-40॥
