दृष्टिम्विलुप्य भर्त्तुर्या कश्चिदन्यं समीक्षते ॥ काणा च विमुखी चापि कुरूपापि च जायते ॥ ५६ ॥
She who casts glance on another person hiding it from her husband becomes one-eyed, twisted-faced or ugly.
english translation
dRSTimvilupya bhartturyA kazcidanyaM samIkSate ॥ kANA ca vimukhI cApi kurUpApi ca jAyate ॥ 56 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptजीवहीनो यथा देहः क्षणादशुचिताम्व्रजेत् ॥ भर्तृहीना तथा योषित्सुस्नाताप्यशुचिस्सदा ॥५७॥
Just as a body bereft of the soul becomes unclean in a moment, similarly a woman without a husband is always unclean even though she may take a neat bath.
english translation
jIvahIno yathA dehaH kSaNAdazucitAmvrajet ॥ bhartRhInA tathA yoSitsusnAtApyazucissadA ॥57॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसा धन्या जननी लोके स धन्यो जनकः पिता ॥ धन्यस्स च पतिर्यस्य गृहे देवी पतिव्रता ॥५८॥
The mother, the father and the husband are blessed if there is a chaste lady in the house.
english translation
sA dhanyA jananI loke sa dhanyo janakaH pitA ॥ dhanyassa ca patiryasya gRhe devI pativratA ॥58॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपितृवंश्याः मातृवंश्याः पतिवंश्यास्त्रयस्त्रयः ॥ पतिव्रतायाः पुण्येन स्वर्गे सौख्यानि भुंजते ॥ ॥ ५९ ॥
The three families—that of the father, that of the mother and that of the husband—enjoy the pleasures of heaven due to the merit of the chaste woman.

pitRvaMzyAH mAtRvaMzyAH pativaMzyAstrayastrayaH ॥ pativratAyAH puNyena svarge saukhyAni bhuMjate ॥ ॥ 59 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशीलभङ्गेन दुर्वृत्ताः पातयन्ति कुलत्रयम् ॥ पितुर्मातुस्तथा पत्युरिहामुत्रापि दुःखिताः ॥ 2-3-54-६० ॥
Disloyal women cause the downfall of the three families, that of the father, mother and husband and become distressed here and hereafter.

zIlabhaGgena durvRttAH pAtayanti kulatrayam ॥ piturmAtustathA patyurihAmutrApi duHkhitAH ॥ 2-3-54-60 ॥
