शूलयुक्तं विरूपाक्षं विकृताकारमाकुलम् ॥ गजचर्म वसानं हि वीक्ष्य त्रेसे शिवाप्रसूः ॥ ६१ ॥
Seeing him (Śiva) bearing a trident, with deformed (unusual) eyes, a terrifying form, and a chaotic appearance, Clad in elephant hide — the mother of Śiva’s bride (Pārvatī) trembled with fear.
english translation
zUlayuktaM virUpAkSaM vikRtAkAramAkulam ॥ gajacarma vasAnaM hi vIkSya trese zivAprasUH ॥ 61 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचकितां कम्पसंयुक्तां विह्वलां विभ्रमद्धियम् ॥ शिवोऽयमिति चांगुल्या दर्शयँस्तां त्वमब्रवीः ॥ ६२ ॥।
She was stunned, tremulous agitated and confused. You said to her “This is Śiva” and pointed Him out to her.
english translation
cakitAM kampasaMyuktAM vihvalAM vibhramaddhiyam ॥ zivo'yamiti cAMgulyA darzaya~stAM tvamabravIH ॥ 62 ॥।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptत्वदीयं तद्वचः श्रुत्वा वाताहतलता इव ॥ सा पपात द्रुतम्भूमौ मेना दुःखभरा सती ॥ ६३ ॥
On hearing your words she fell on the ground like a tender creeper blown by the wind. Menā the chaste lady was grief-stricken.
english translation
tvadIyaM tadvacaH zrutvA vAtAhatalatA iva ॥ sA papAta drutambhUmau menA duHkhabharA satI ॥ 63 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकिमिदं विकृतं दृष्ट्वा वञ्चिताहं दुराग्रहे ॥ इत्युक्त्वा मूर्च्छिता तत्र मेनका साऽभवत्क्षणात् ॥ ६४ ॥
What is this? I have been deceived for being too ambitious. Of what use is it to see this deformity?” Saying this, Menakā fell unconscious there in a trice.
english translation
kimidaM vikRtaM dRSTvA vaJcitAhaM durAgrahe ॥ ityuktvA mUrcchitA tatra menakA sA'bhavatkSaNAt ॥ 64 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ प्रयत्नैर्विविधैस्सखीभिरुपसेविता ॥ लेभे संज्ञां शनै मेना गिरीश्वरप्रिया तदा ॥ ६५ ॥
Her maids exerted themselves in various ways and attended on her. Then gradually she, the beloved of the lord of mountains, regained consciousness.

atha prayatnairvividhaissakhIbhirupasevitA ॥ lebhe saMjJAM zanai menA girIzvarapriyA tadA ॥ 65 ॥
