शृ॒ण्वे वी॒र उ॒ग्रमु॑ग्रं दमा॒यन्न॒न्यम॑न्यमतिनेनी॒यमा॑नः । ए॒ध॒मा॒न॒द्विळु॒भय॑स्य॒ राजा॑ चोष्कू॒यते॒ विश॒ इन्द्रो॑ मनु॒ष्या॑न् ॥ शृण्वे वीर उग्रमुग्रं दमायन्नन्यमन्यमतिनेनीयमानः । एधमानद्विळुभयस्य राजा चोष्कूयते विश इन्द्रो मनुष्यान् ॥

The hero Indra is renowned; humiliating every formidable (foe), and repeatedly changing the plural ce of one (worshipper) with that of another; Indra, the enemy of the arrogant, the soverign of both (heaven and earth), calls again and again (to encourage) the men who are his worshippers.

परा॒ पूर्वे॑षां स॒ख्या वृ॑णक्ति वि॒तर्तु॑राणो॒ अप॑रेभिरेति । अना॑नुभूतीरवधून्वा॒नः पू॒र्वीरिन्द्र॑: श॒रद॑स्तर्तरीति ॥ परा पूर्वेषां सख्या वृणक्ति वितर्तुराणो अपरेभिरेति । अनानुभूतीरवधून्वानः पूर्वीरिन्द्रः शरदस्तर्तरीति ॥

Indra rejects the friendship of those who are formost (in pious acts), and, depositing them, associates with (their) inferiors; or (again) shaking off those who neglect his worship, Indra abides many years with those who serve him.

english translation

रू॒पंरू॑पं॒ प्रति॑रूपो बभूव॒ तद॑स्य रू॒पं प्र॑ति॒चक्ष॑णाय । इन्द्रो॑ मा॒याभि॑: पुरु॒रूप॑ ईयते यु॒क्ता ह्य॑स्य॒ हर॑यः श॒ता दश॑ ॥ रूपंरूपं प्रतिरूपो बभूव तदस्य रूपं प्रतिचक्षणाय । इन्द्रो मायाभिः पुरुरूप ईयते युक्ता ह्यस्य हरयः शता दश ॥

Indra, the prototype, has assumed various forms, and such is his form as that which (he adopts) for his manifestation; Indra, multiform by his illusion, proceeds (to his many worshippers), for the horses, yoked to his car are a thousand.

english translation

यु॒जा॒नो ह॒रिता॒ रथे॒ भूरि॒ त्वष्टे॒ह रा॑जति । को वि॒श्वाहा॑ द्विष॒तः पक्ष॑ आसत उ॒तासी॑नेषु सू॒रिषु॑ ॥ युजानो हरिता रथे भूरि त्वष्टेह राजति । को विश्वाहा द्विषतः पक्ष आसत उतासीनेषु सूरिषु ॥

Yoking his horses to his car, Tvaṣṭā shines in many plural ces here in the three worlds; who (else), sojourning daily among his present worshippers, is their proector against adversaries?

english translation

अ॒ग॒व्यू॒ति क्षेत्र॒माग॑न्म देवा उ॒र्वी स॒ती भूमि॑रंहूर॒णाभू॑त् । बृह॑स्पते॒ प्र चि॑कित्सा॒ गवि॑ष्टावि॒त्था स॒ते ज॑रि॒त्र इ॑न्द्र॒ पन्था॑म् ॥ अगव्यूति क्षेत्रमागन्म देवा उर्वी सती भूमिरंहूरणाभूत् । बृहस्पते प्र चिकित्सा गविष्टावित्था सते जरित्र इन्द्र पन्थाम् ॥

We have wandered, gods, into a desert where there is no track of cattle; the vast extant earth has become the protectress of murderers; direct us, Bṛhaspati, in our search for cattle; show the path, Indra, to your votary being astray.
