प्रत्य॒ग्निरु॒षसा॒मग्र॑मख्यद्विभाती॒नां सु॒मना॑ रत्न॒धेय॑म् । या॒तम॑श्विना सु॒कृतो॑ दुरो॒णमुत्सूर्यो॒ ज्योति॑षा दे॒व ए॑ति ॥ प्रत्यग्निरुषसामग्रमख्यद्विभातीनां सुमना रत्नधेयम् । यातमश्विना सुकृतो दुरोणमुत्सूर्यो ज्योतिषा देव एति ॥

Favourably-minded, Agni has manifested (his might) in regard to the wealth-bestowing procession of the resplendent dawns; proceed, Aśvins, to the dwelling of the pious (worshipper); the divine sun rises with splendour.

ऊ॒र्ध्वं भा॒नुं स॑वि॒ता दे॒वो अ॑श्रेद्द्र॒प्सं दवि॑ध्वद्गवि॒षो न सत्वा॑ । अनु॑ व्र॒तं वरु॑णो यन्ति मि॒त्रो यत्सूर्यं॑ दि॒व्या॑रो॒हय॑न्ति ॥ ऊर्ध्वं भानुं सविता देवो अश्रेद्द्रप्सं दविध्वद्गविषो न सत्वा । अनु व्रतं वरुणो यन्ति मित्रो यत्सूर्यं दिव्यारोहयन्ति ॥

The divine Savitā diffuses his light on high, dispersing the dew, and like a vigorous (bull) ardent for the cow; then Varuṇa, and Mitra, and other (divinities), hasten to (fulfil) their offices when they elevate the sun in the sky.

english translation

U॒rdhvaM bhA॒nuM sa॑vi॒tA de॒vo a॑zreddra॒psaM davi॑dhvadgavi॒So na satvA॑ | anu॑ vra॒taM varu॑No yanti mi॒tro yatsUryaM॑ di॒vyA॑ro॒haya॑nti || UrdhvaM bhAnuM savitA devo azreddrapsaM davidhvadgaviSo na satvA | anu vrataM varuNo yanti mitro yatsUryaM divyArohayanti ||

यं सी॒मकृ॑ण्व॒न्तम॑से वि॒पृचे॑ ध्रु॒वक्षे॑मा॒ अन॑वस्यन्तो॒ अर्थ॑म् । तं सूर्यं॑ ह॒रित॑: स॒प्त य॒ह्वीः स्पशं॒ विश्व॑स्य॒ जग॑तो वहन्ति ॥ यं सीमकृण्वन्तमसे विपृचे ध्रुवक्षेमा अनवस्यन्तो अर्थम् । तं सूर्यं हरितः सप्त यह्वीः स्पशं विश्वस्य जगतो वहन्ति ॥

Seven great courses convey that sun, whom the (deities), occupants of enduring mansions, and not heedless (of their offices), have formed for the driving away of darkness, (and who is) the animator of the whole world.

yaM sI॒makR॑Nva॒ntama॑se vi॒pRce॑ dhru॒vakSe॑mA॒ ana॑vasyanto॒ artha॑m | taM sUryaM॑ ha॒rita॑: sa॒pta ya॒hvIH spazaM॒ vizva॑sya॒ jaga॑to vahanti || yaM sImakRNvantamase vipRce dhruvakSemA anavasyanto artham | taM sUryaM haritaH sapta yahvIH spazaM vizvasya jagato vahanti ||

वहि॑ष्ठेभिर्वि॒हर॑न्यासि॒ तन्तु॑मव॒व्यय॒न्नसि॑तं देव॒ वस्म॑ । दवि॑ध्वतो र॒श्मय॒: सूर्य॑स्य॒ चर्मे॒वावा॑धु॒स्तमो॑ अ॒प्स्व१॒॑न्तः ॥ वहिष्ठेभिर्विहरन्यासि तन्तुमवव्ययन्नसितं देव वस्म । दविध्वतो रश्मयः सूर्यस्य चर्मेवावाधुस्तमो अप्स्वन्तः ॥

Divine (sun), you proceed with most powerful (horses), spreading your web (or rays), and cutting down the black abode (of night); the tremulous rays of the sun throw off the darknes which is spread like a skin over the firmament.

english translation

vahi॑SThebhirvi॒hara॑nyAsi॒ tantu॑mava॒vyaya॒nnasi॑taM deva॒ vasma॑ | davi॑dhvato ra॒zmaya॒: sUrya॑sya॒ carme॒vAvA॑dhu॒stamo॑ a॒psva1॒॑ntaH || vahiSThebhirviharanyAsi tantumavavyayannasitaM deva vasma | davidhvato razmayaH sUryasya carmevAvAdhustamo apsvantaH ||

अना॑यतो॒ अनि॑बद्धः क॒थायं न्य॑ङ्ङुत्ता॒नोऽव॑ पद्यते॒ न । कया॑ याति स्व॒धया॒ को द॑दर्श दि॒वः स्क॒म्भः समृ॑तः पाति॒ नाक॑म् ॥ अनायतो अनिबद्धः कथायं न्यङ्ङुत्तानोऽव पद्यते न । कया याति स्वधया को ददर्श दिवः स्कम्भः समृतः पाति नाकम् ॥

This sun, not far removed, and unobstructed, whether (looking) downwards or looking upwards, is harmed by no one; what is the power by which he travels? who has (truly) beheld him who, as the collective pillar of heaven, sustains the sky?

english translation

anA॑yato॒ ani॑baddhaH ka॒thAyaM nya॑GGuttA॒no'va॑ padyate॒ na | kayA॑ yAti sva॒dhayA॒ ko da॑darza di॒vaH ska॒mbhaH samR॑taH pAti॒ nAka॑m || anAyato anibaddhaH kathAyaM nyaGGuttAno'va padyate na | kayA yAti svadhayA ko dadarza divaH skambhaH samRtaH pAti nAkam ||
