क॒था दा॑शेमा॒ग्नये॒ कास्मै॑ दे॒वजु॑ष्टोच्यते भा॒मिने॒ गीः । यो मर्त्ये॑ष्व॒मृत॑ ऋ॒तावा॒ होता॒ यजि॑ष्ठ॒ इत्कृ॒णोति॑ दे॒वान् ॥ कथा दाशेमाग्नये कास्मै देवजुष्टोच्यते भामिने गीः । यो मर्त्येष्वमृत ऋतावा होता यजिष्ठ इत्कृणोति देवान् ॥
What (oblations) may we offer to Agni? What praise is addressed to the luminous (Agni) that is agreeable to the gods? that Agni who is immortal and observant of truth, who is the invoker of the gods, the performer of sacrifices, and who, (present) amongst men, conveys oblations to the deities.
english translation
यो अ॑ध्व॒रेषु॒ शंत॑म ऋ॒तावा॒ होता॒ तमू॒ नमो॑भि॒रा कृ॑णुध्वम् । अ॒ग्निर्यद्वेर्मर्ता॑य दे॒वान्त्स चा॒ बोधा॑ति॒ मन॑सा यजाति ॥ यो अध्वरेषु शंतम ऋतावा होता तमू नमोभिरा कृणुध्वम् । अग्निर्यद्वेर्मर्ताय देवान्त्स चा बोधाति मनसा यजाति ॥
Bring hither, with praises, him who is most constant in sacrifice, observant of truth, and the invoker (of the gods), for Agni, when he repairs to the gods on the part of man, knows those (who are to be worshipped), and worships them with reverence.
english translation
स हि क्रतु॒: स मर्य॒: स सा॒धुर्मि॒त्रो न भू॒दद्भु॑तस्य र॒थीः । तं मेधे॑षु प्रथ॒मं दे॑व॒यन्ती॒र्विश॒ उप॑ ब्रुवते द॒स्ममारी॑: ॥ स हि क्रतुः स मर्यः स साधुर्मित्रो न भूदद्भुतस्य रथीः । तं मेधेषु प्रथमं देवयन्तीर्विश उप ब्रुवते दस्ममारीः ॥
For he is the performer of rites, he is the destroyer and reviver (of all things), and, like a friend he is the donor of unattained wealth; all men reverencing the gods, and approaching the well-looking Agni, repeat his name first in holy rites.
english translation
स नो॑ नृ॒णां नृत॑मो रि॒शादा॑ अ॒ग्निर्गिरोऽव॑सा वेतु धी॒तिम् । तना॑ च॒ ये म॒घवा॑न॒: शवि॑ष्ठा॒ वाज॑प्रसूता इ॒षय॑न्त॒ मन्म॑ ॥ स नो नृणां नृतमो रिशादा अग्निर्गिरोऽवसा वेतु धीतिम् । तना च ये मघवानः शविष्ठा वाजप्रसूता इषयन्त मन्म ॥
May Agni, who is the chief director of sacrifices, and the destroyer of enemies, accept our praise and worship with oblations, and may those who are affluent with great wealth, who are endowed with strength, and by whom the sacrificial food has been prepared, be desirous to offer adoration.
english translation
ए॒वाग्निर्गोत॑मेभिॠ॒तावा॒ विप्रे॑भिरस्तोष्ट जा॒तवे॑दाः । स ए॑षु द्यु॒म्नं पी॑पय॒त्स वाजं॒ स पु॒ष्टिं या॑ति॒ जोष॒मा चि॑कि॒त्वान् ॥ एवाग्निर्गोतमेभिॠतावा विप्रेभिरस्तोष्ट जातवेदाः । स एषु द्युम्नं पीपयत्स वाजं स पुष्टिं याति जोषमा चिकित्वान् ॥
Thus has Agni, the celebrator of sacrifices, and by whom all things are known, been hymned by the pious descendant of Gotama; to them he has given the bright Soma to drink, along with the sacrificial food, and gratified by our devotion, he obtains nutriment (for himself).
