व॒नेम॑ पू॒र्वीर॒र्यो म॑नी॒षा अ॒ग्निः सु॒शोको॒ विश्वा॑न्यश्याः ॥ वनेम पूर्वीरर्यो मनीषा अग्निः सुशोको विश्वान्यश्याः ॥

sanskrit

We solicit abundant (food) Agni, who is to be approached by meditation, and shines with pure light, pervades all holy rites, knowing well the acts that are to be addressed to the deities, and (those) which regulate) the birth of the human race.

english translation

va॒nema॑ pU॒rvIra॒ryo ma॑nI॒SA a॒gniH su॒zoko॒ vizvA॑nyazyAH || vanema pUrvIraryo manISA agniH suzoko vizvAnyazyAH ||

hk transliteration

आ दैव्या॑नि व्र॒ता चि॑कि॒त्वाना मानु॑षस्य॒ जन॑स्य॒ जन्म॑ ॥ आ दैव्यानि व्रता चिकित्वाना मानुषस्य जनस्य जन्म ॥

sanskrit

A divine vow to cure the birth of a human being. After observing divine vows, the human being was born.

english translation

A daivyA॑ni vra॒tA ci॑ki॒tvAnA mAnu॑Sasya॒ jana॑sya॒ janma॑ || A daivyAni vratA cikitvAnA mAnuSasya janasya janma ||

hk transliteration

गर्भो॒ यो अ॒पां गर्भो॒ वना॑नां॒ गर्भ॑श्च स्था॒तां गर्भ॑श्च॒रथा॑म् ॥ गर्भो यो अपां गर्भो वनानां गर्भश्च स्थातां गर्भश्चरथाम् ॥

sanskrit

(They offer oblations) on the mountain, or in the mansion, to that Agni, who is within the waters within woods, and within all moveable and immoveable things, immortal and performing pious acts, like a benevolent (prince) among his people.

english translation

garbho॒ yo a॒pAM garbho॒ vanA॑nAM॒ garbha॑zca sthA॒tAM garbha॑zca॒rathA॑m || garbho yo apAM garbho vanAnAM garbhazca sthAtAM garbhazcarathAm ||

hk transliteration

अद्रौ॑ चिदस्मा अ॒न्तर्दु॑रो॒णे वि॒शां न विश्वो॑ अ॒मृत॑: स्वा॒धीः ॥ अद्रौ चिदस्मा अन्तर्दुरोणे विशां न विश्वो अमृतः स्वाधीः ॥

sanskrit

There is nothing in the ocean that is within the universe, nor is it the immortality of the universe. There is nothing in the mountains that is within us, but the universe is not immortal and self-contained.

english translation

adrau॑ cidasmA a॒ntardu॑ro॒Ne vi॒zAM na vizvo॑ a॒mRta॑: svA॒dhIH || adrau cidasmA antarduroNe vizAM na vizvo amRtaH svAdhIH ||

hk transliteration

स हि क्ष॒पावाँ॑ अ॒ग्नी र॑यी॒णां दाश॒द्यो अ॑स्मा॒ अर॑ सू॒क्तैः ॥ स हि क्षपावाँ अग्नी रयीणां दाशद्यो अस्मा अरं सूक्तैः ॥

sanskrit

Agni, the lord of night, grants riches to the worshipper who adores him with sacred hymns. Agni, who are omniscient, and know the origin of gods and men, protect all these (beings dwelling) upon earth.

english translation

sa hi kSa॒pAvA~॑ a॒gnI ra॑yI॒NAM dAza॒dyo a॑smA॒ ara॑ sU॒ktaiH || sa hi kSapAvA~ agnI rayINAM dAzadyo asmA araM sUktaiH ||
