उ॒द्वत्स्व॑स्मा अकृणोतना॒ तृणं॑ नि॒वत्स्व॒पः स्व॑प॒स्यया॑ नरः । अगो॑ह्यस्य॒ यदस॑स्तना गृ॒हे तद॒द्येदमृ॑भवो॒ नानु॑ गच्छथ ॥ उद्वत्स्वस्मा अकृणोतना तृणं निवत्स्वपः स्वपस्यया नरः । अगोह्यस्य यदसस्तना गृहे तदद्येदमृभवो नानु गच्छथ ॥

sanskrit

Ṛbhus, leaders (of the rains), you have caused the grass to grow upon the high plural ces; you have caused the waters to flow over the low plural ces; for (the promotion of) good works; as you have reposed for a while in the dwelling of the unapprehensible (Sun), so desist not today from (the discharge of) this (your function).

english translation

u॒dvatsva॑smA akRNotanA॒ tRNaM॑ ni॒vatsva॒paH sva॑pa॒syayA॑ naraH | ago॑hyasya॒ yadasa॑stanA gR॒he tada॒dyedamR॑bhavo॒ nAnu॑ gacchatha || udvatsvasmA akRNotanA tRNaM nivatsvapaH svapasyayA naraH | agohyasya yadasastanA gRhe tadadyedamRbhavo nAnu gacchatha ||

स॒म्मील्य॒ यद्भुव॑ना प॒र्यस॑र्पत॒ क्व॑ स्वित्ता॒त्या पि॒तरा॑ व आसतुः । अश॑पत॒ यः क॒रस्नं॑ व आद॒दे यः प्राब्र॑वी॒त्प्रो तस्मा॑ अब्रवीतन ॥ सम्मील्य यद्भुवना पर्यसर्पत क्व स्वित्तात्या पितरा व आसतुः । अशपत यः करस्नं व आददे यः प्राब्रवीत्प्रो तस्मा अब्रवीतन ॥

sanskrit

As you glide along enveloping the regions (in clouds); where, then, are the parents (of the world)? curse him who arrests your arm; reply sternly to him who speaks disrespectfully (to you).

english translation

sa॒mmIlya॒ yadbhuva॑nA pa॒ryasa॑rpata॒ kva॑ svittA॒tyA pi॒tarA॑ va AsatuH | aza॑pata॒ yaH ka॒rasnaM॑ va Ada॒de yaH prAbra॑vI॒tpro tasmA॑ abravItana || sammIlya yadbhuvanA paryasarpata kva svittAtyA pitarA va AsatuH | azapata yaH karasnaM va Adade yaH prAbravItpro tasmA abravItana ||

सु॒षु॒प्वांस॑ ऋभव॒स्तद॑पृच्छ॒तागो॑ह्य॒ क इ॒दं नो॑ अबूबुधत् । श्वानं॑ ब॒स्तो बो॑धयि॒तार॑मब्रवीत्संवत्स॒र इ॒दम॒द्या व्य॑ख्यत ॥ सुषुप्वांस ऋभवस्तदपृच्छतागोह्य क इदं नो अबूबुधत् । श्वानं बस्तो बोधयितारमब्रवीत्संवत्सर इदमद्या व्यख्यत ॥

Ṛbhus, reposing in the solar orb, you inquire: who awakens us, unapprehensive (Sun), to this office (of sending rain). The Sun replies: the awakener is the wind; and the year (being ended), you again today light up this (world).

su॒Su॒pvAMsa॑ Rbhava॒stada॑pRccha॒tAgo॑hya॒ ka i॒daM no॑ abUbudhat | zvAnaM॑ ba॒sto bo॑dhayi॒tAra॑mabravItsaMvatsa॒ra i॒dama॒dyA vya॑khyata || suSupvAMsa RbhavastadapRcchatAgohya ka idaM no abUbudhat | zvAnaM basto bodhayitAramabravItsaMvatsara idamadyA vyakhyata ||

दि॒वा या॑न्ति म॒रुतो॒ भूम्या॒ग्निर॒यं वातो॑ अ॒न्तरि॑क्षेण याति । अ॒द्भिर्या॑ति॒ वरु॑णः समु॒द्रैर्यु॒ष्माँ इ॒च्छन्त॑: शवसो नपातः ॥ दिवा यान्ति मरुतो भूम्याग्निरयं वातो अन्तरिक्षेण याति । अद्भिर्याति वरुणः समुद्रैर्युष्माँ इच्छन्तः शवसो नपातः ॥

Sons of Strength, the Maruts, desirous of your coming, advance from the sky; Agni comes (to meet you) from the earth; the wind traverses the firmament; and Varuṇa comes with undulating waters.

english translation

di॒vA yA॑nti ma॒ruto॒ bhUmyA॒gnira॒yaM vAto॑ a॒ntari॑kSeNa yAti | a॒dbhiryA॑ti॒ varu॑NaH samu॒drairyu॒SmA~ i॒cchanta॑: zavaso napAtaH || divA yAnti maruto bhUmyAgnirayaM vAto antarikSeNa yAti | adbhiryAti varuNaH samudrairyuSmA~ icchantaH zavaso napAtaH ||
