अ॒ग्निं दू॒तं वृ॑णीमहे॒ होता॑रं वि॒श्ववे॑दसम् । अ॒स्य य॒ज्ञस्य॑ सु॒क्रतु॑म् ॥ अग्निं दूतं वृणीमहे होतारं विश्ववेदसम् । अस्य यज्ञस्य सुक्रतुम् ॥
We select Agni, the messenger of the gods, their invoker, the possessor of all riches, the perfecter of this rite.
english translation
a॒gniM dU॒taM vR॑NImahe॒ hotA॑raM vi॒zvave॑dasam । a॒sya ya॒jJasya॑ su॒kratu॑m ॥ agniM dUtaM vRNImahe hotAraM vizvavedasam । asya yajJasya sukratum ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअ॒ग्निम॑ग्निं॒ हवी॑मभि॒: सदा॑ हवन्त वि॒श्पति॑म् । ह॒व्य॒वाहं॑ पुरुप्रि॒यम् ॥ अग्निमग्निं हवीमभिः सदा हवन्त विश्पतिम् । हव्यवाहं पुरुप्रियम् ॥
(The offerers of oblations) invoke with their invocations, Agni, Agni, the lord of men, the bearer of offerings, the beloved of many.

a॒gnima॑gniM॒ havI॑mabhi॒: sadA॑ havanta vi॒zpati॑m । ha॒vya॒vAhaM॑ purupri॒yam ॥ agnimagniM havImabhiH sadA havanta vizpatim । havyavAhaM purupriyam ॥

Agni, genitive rated (by attrition), bring hither the gods to the clipped sacred grass; you are their invoker for us, and are to be adored.

agne॑ de॒vA~ i॒hA va॑ha jajJA॒no vR॒ktaba॑rhiSe । asi॒ hotA॑ na॒ IDya॑: ॥ agne devA~ ihA vaha jajJAno vRktabarhiSe । asi hotA na IDyaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptताँ उ॑श॒तो वि बो॑धय॒ यद॑ग्ने॒ यासि॑ दू॒त्य॑म् । दे॒वैरा स॑त्सि ब॒र्हिषि॑ ॥ ताँ उशतो वि बोधय यदग्ने यासि दूत्यम् । देवैरा सत्सि बर्हिषि ॥
As you discharge the duty of messenger, arouse them desirous of the oblation; sit down with them on the sacred grass.

tA~ u॑za॒to vi bo॑dhaya॒ yada॑gne॒ yAsi॑ dU॒tya॑m । de॒vairA sa॑tsi ba॒rhiSi॑ ॥ tA~ uzato vi bodhaya yadagne yAsi dUtyam । devairA satsi barhiSi ॥

Resplendent Agni, invoked by oblations of clarified butter, consume our adversaries, who are defended by evil spirits.
