किं कृतं श्रेय इत्येवं वर्धेमहि कथं वयम् । अथाब्रवीत्सुतां रक्षः कैकसीं नाम नामतः ॥ 7-9-6 ॥
"What good deed should be done, by which we may prosper, and how?" Then the Rakshasa spoke to his daughter, Kaikasi by name.
english translation
पुत्रि प्रदानकालो ऽयं यौवनं व्यतिवर्तते । प्रत्याख्यानाच्च भीतैस्त्वं न वरैः प्रतिगृह्यसे ॥ 7-9-7 ॥
"Daughter, this is the time for your giving in marriage, and your youth is passing away; yet, out of fear of refusal, you are not accepted by suitors."
english translation
त्वत्कृते च वयं सर्वे यन्त्रिता धर्मबुद्धयः । त्वं हि सर्वगुणोपेता श्रीः साक्षादिव पुत्रिके । कन्यापितृत्वं दुःखं हि सर्वेषां मानकाङ्क्षिणाम् ॥ 7-9-8 ॥
"And on your account all of us, righteous in mind, are held in restraint; for indeed, my child, you are endowed with every virtue, like Shri herself made manifest. The fatherhood of a daughter is a sorrow for all who cherish their honor."
english translation
न ज्ञायते च कः कन्यां वरयेदिति कन्यके ॥ 7-9-9 ॥
"For it is not known, O maiden, who will choose this daughter in marriage."

त्वं हि सर्वगुणोपेता श्रीः साक्षादिव पुत्रिके । मातुः कुलं पितृकुलं यत्र चैव प्रदीयते । कुलत्रयं सदा कन्या संशये स्थाप्य तिष्ठति ॥ 7-9-10 ॥
For you, my child, are endowed with every virtue, like the goddess Shri herself made visible. A maiden, until she is given away, ever holds three families in suspense — her mother's lineage, her father's lineage, and that into which she is bestowed.
