एवं ते राक्षसा तेन हरिणा कमलेक्षण । बहुशः संयुगे भग्ना हतप्रवरनायकाः ॥ 7-8-21 ॥
Thus, O lotus-eyed one, those Rakshasas, their foremost leaders slain, were repeatedly broken in battle by that Hari (Vishnu).
english translation
अशक्नुवन्तस्ते विष्णुं प्रतियोद्धुं भयार्दिताः । त्यक्त्वा लङ्कां गता वस्तुं पातालं सहपत्नयः ॥ 7-8-22 ॥
Unable to withstand Vishnu in combat and tormented by fear, they abandoned Lanka and went, together with their wives, to dwell in Patala (the netherworld).
english translation
सुमालिनं समासाद्य राक्षसं रघुसत्तम । स्थिताः प्रख्यातवीर्यास्ते वंशे सालकटङ्कटे ॥ 7-8-23 ॥
Having approached the Rakshasa named Sumali, O best of the Raghus, those of renowned valor remained established in the Salakatankata lineage.
english translation
ये त्वया निहतास्ते तु पौलस्त्या नाम राक्षसाः । सुमाली माल्यवान्माली ये च तेषां पुरःसराः सर्वे तेभ्यो महाभागा रावणाद्बलवत्तराः ॥ 7-8-24 ॥
Those Rakshasas whom you slew were called the Paulastyas, and Sumali, Malyavan, and Mali were the ones who went before them as their leaders. All of them, greatly fortunate, were mightier than Ravana himself.
english translation
न चान्यो राक्षसान्हन्ता सुरारीन्देवकण्टकान् । ऋते नारायणं देवं शङ्खचक्रगदाधरम् ॥ 7-8-25 ॥
And there is no other slayer of the Rakshasas, those enemies of the gods and thorns in the side of the celestials, save Narayana, the god who bears the conch, the discus, and the mace.
