राक्षसेन्द्रा गिरिनिभाः शरैः शक्त्यृष्टितोमरैः । निरुछ्वासं हरिं चक्रुः प्राणायामा इव द्विजम् ॥ 7-7-6 ॥
the lords of the Rakshasas, huge as mountains, with arrows, spears, swords, and javelins rendered Hari breathless, as the breathing-exercises of pranayama render a twice-born man breathless.
english translation
निशाचरैस्ताड्यमानो मीनैरिव महोदधिः । शार्ङ्गमायम्य दुर्धर्षो राक्षसेभ्यो ऽसृजच्छरान् ॥ 7-7-7 ॥
Beaten upon by the night-rangers as the great ocean is beaten by fishes, the invincible one drew the Sharnga bow and let loose his arrows against the Rakshasas.
english translation
शरैः पूर्णायतोत्सृष्टैर्वज्रवक्त्रैर्मनोजवैः । चिच्छेद विष्णुर्निशितैः शतशो ऽथ सहस्रशः ॥ 7-7-8 ॥
With sharp arrows discharged from the bow drawn to its full length, thunderbolt-mouthed and swift as thought, Vishnu cut down the foe by hundreds and by thousands.
english translation
विद्राव्य शरवर्षेण वर्षा वायुरिवोत्थितम् । पाञ्चजन्यं महाशङ्खं प्रदध्मौ पुरुषोत्तमः ॥ 7-7-9 ॥
Having scattered them with his rain of arrows, as the wind of the rainy season scatters a risen cloud, the Supreme Person sounded the great conch Panchajanya.
english translation
सो ऽम्बुजो हरिणा ध्मातः सर्वप्राणेन शङ्खराट् । ररास भीमनिर्हादस्त्रैलोक्यं व्यथयन्निव ॥ 7-7-10 ॥
That king of conches, born of the waters, blown by Hari with all his breath, gave forth a terrible-sounding roar, as if shaking the three worlds.
