मत्करोत्सृष्टवज्रेण हनुरस्य यथा हतः । नाम्ना वै कपिशार्दूलो भविता हनुमानिति ॥ 7-36-11 ॥
Since his jaw (hanu) was struck by the thunderbolt hurled from my hand, this tiger among monkeys shall by name become known as Hanuman.
english translation
अहमस्य प्रदास्यामि परमं वरमद्भुतम् । इतः प्रभृति वज्रस्य ममावध्यो भविष्यति ॥ 7-36-12 ॥
I shall grant him a supreme and wondrous boon: from this time forth he shall be invulnerable to my thunderbolt.
english translation
मार्तण्डस्त्वब्रवीत्तत्र भगवांस्तिमिरापहः । तेजसो ऽस्य मदीयस्य ददामि शतिकां कलाम् ॥ 7-36-13 ॥
Then the Sun (Martanda), the blessed dispeller of darkness, said: I give him a hundredth part of my radiance.
english translation
यदा तु शास्त्राण्यध्येतुं शक्तिरस्य भविष्यति । तदास्य शास्त्रं दास्यामि येन वाग्ग्मी भविष्यति ॥ 7-36-14 ॥
And when he gains the capacity to study the scriptures, then I shall impart the scripture to him, whereby he shall become eloquent.
english translation
नचास्य भविता कश्चित्सदृशः शास्त्रदर्शने । वरुणश्च वरं प्रादान्नास्य मृत्युर्भविष्यति । वर्षायुतशतेनापि मत्पाशादुदकादपि ॥ 7-36-15 ॥
And there shall be none equal to him in the understanding of the scriptures. Varuna too granted a boon: He shall have no death; even by a hundred myriads of years, nor by my noose, nor by water shall he die.
