स तु तारं विनिर्भर्त्स्य रावणो लोकरावणः । पुष्पकं तत्समारुह्य प्रययौ दक्षिणार्णवम् ॥ 7-34-11 ॥
But Ravana, the terror of the worlds, having rebuked Tara, mounted that Pushpaka chariot and set off for the southern sea.
english translation
तत्र हेमगिरिप्रख्यं तरुणार्कनिभाननम् । रावणो वालिनं दृष्ट्वा सन्ध्योपासनतत्परम् ॥ 7-34-12 ॥
There Ravana beheld Vali, resembling a mountain of gold, his face radiant like the rising sun, intent upon his twilight worship.
english translation
पुष्पकादवरुह्याथ रावणो ऽञ्जनसन्निभः । ग्रहीतुं वालिनं तूर्णं निःशब्दपदमाव्रजत् ॥ 7-34-13 ॥
Then Ravana, dark as collyrium, descending from the Pushpaka, advanced with soundless steps to seize Vali swiftly.
english translation
यदृच्छया तदा दृष्टो वालिनापि स रावणः । पापाभिप्रायवान् दृष्ट्वा चकार न तु सम्भ्रमम् ॥ 7-34-14 ॥
By chance Ravana was then seen by Vali as well; but although Vali saw him there with his evil intent, he felt no agitation whatsoever.
english translation
शशमालक्ष्य सिंहो वा पन्नगं गरुडो यथा । न चिन्तयति तं वाली रावणं पापनिश्चयम् ॥ 7-34-15 ॥
As a lion takes no notice of a hare, or Garuda of a serpent, so Vali gave no real thought to Ravana, whose resolve was set on evil.
